A pair of candlesticks
This pair of gilded single-light candlesticks is made in the so-called Retour d'Égypte style that emerged after Napoleon Bonaparte's campaign to Egypt (1789-1801). The fluted shaft ends in toes and heads with Egyptian hair and headdress. Above it a bulbous bobeche. France, c. 1805-10. Dim. H 28.5 cm.
