Consulat canapee

A small canape made of mahogany and on 4 claw feet. Furniture with claw feet became popular after Napoleon's campaign in Egypt.

The sober and restrained style is that of the Consulat ( 1799-1804) style period.

The piece of furniture is signed with stamp : JACOB.D.R.MESLEE. This famous workshop was located in Paris and delivered, mostly through intermediaries, to the French elite.
