Landscape with resting cattle
A sunlit landscape with shadows features cattle and a traveler with a donkey resting. In the distance is a hilly landscape with a town. Jacob Kouwenhoven (Rotterdam 1777-1825) was a pupil of B.P. Ommeganck in Antwerp and also developed as a landscape painter, often furnishing his landscapes with small livestock. Sketched much during a trip to Switzerland in 1817 and worked from home.
